TetraPak etchings are in fact engravings: a used carton (milk, juice, ….) is cut open, and the image is carved on the inside that has a thin metallic layer. Then the carton is inked and printed as a regular engraving. As the carton itself leaves unpredictable traces on the paper and inking is more free-hand than with a standard etching, the prints become atmospheric monotypes. The editions are naturally limited as the cartons do not last. Being quick and dirty work compared to traditional etchings, it nicely counterbalances that.

Tetrapak etching, when combined with soy-based intaglio inks, allows for an environmentally friendly form of creative expression with a super low footprint where all the base materials are either plant-based or recycled material.
